Year 4

Throughout the year we will use this page to keep Year 4 children and adults up to date with our fantastic learning, photos and other important information.

We have two classes in Year 4 this year:

4AD - Mrs Allwright and Mrs Dearman

4I - Miss Ilyas

We are also very lucky to have additional support in class by Miss Bell, Miss Cajkova and Mrs Matloob.

If you have any questions or concerns, please get in contact via the school office.

A Typical Day in Year 4

General information:

PE:

This term our PE days are Tuesday and Wednesday

On these days the children will need to come into school wearing their PE kit.

PE Kit: White t-shirt/ school PE shirt or house shirt; dark shorts; dark joggers and sweatshirt; trainers.

Please make sure all PE kit (as well as regular uniform) is labelled with your child's name.

Please note: On the weeks we have Forest School, the children will not need to wear their PE kit on Wednesday but will need to come into school wearing appropriate Forest School clothing (see below).

Forest School:

Our Forest School session will take place every other week on Wednesday

On the date below children will be expected to come into school in appropriate clothing (trousers to cover their legs) and trainers that they can get muddy. Our next session will be Wednesday 29th September

Drinks/Snacks:

To make sure the children stay hydrated, please remember to bring in a clearly named water bottle. Children may have a snack at break time. If snacks are bought in, please make they are only fresh fruit or vegetables.

There are two pieces of homework set each week - Maths and English/Topic related.

All homework is set on Friday and is expected back by the following Wednesday.

Please look down below to find the weekly homework.

Reading:

"There are many ways to enlarge your child's world, love of books is the best of all" - Jacqueline Kennedy.

We would like you to encourage your child to read at home every day. Please ensure that your child has a current book, appropriate to their level and understanding, with them each day. This could be a book from home or school. Please note, in Year 4, reading record logs are no longer used.

If you have any outstanding library books or school reading books at home, please could they be returned to school.

Reading Eggs:

In Year 4, we would like all children to enjoy our interesting and engaging Reading Eggs programme; both at home and in school. We would like to encourage all children to extend their learning by enjoying 35 minutes of Reading Eggs each week, including a reading lesson. Children can either complete 'Lessons' - which focus on comprehension - or by entering 'The Stadium' where they can practise their spelling, punctuation and grammar. There are also lots of books available to read in the 'Library'. From time to time, we will set specific tasks which tie in with our learning that week.
