'Shine as Lights in the World'

"You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.  In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven."

At St Mary’s CE School, our core purpose is to enable all to ‘shine as lights in the world’.

Through our inclusive Christian values, we empower the school community to be thoughtful human beings by showing respect for themselves, for others and for the world around us. We strive for all to have the integrity to achieve our full potential through resilient endeavours.

Our Christian values thread through our vision and underpin everything that we do:

Respect - Genesis 1:28

I am putting you in charge of all of the fish, the birds and all the wild animals

Respect is being kind to myself and others and taking care of my surroundings and objects.

Integrity - Proverbs 20:11

Even a child shows what he is by what he does, you can tell if he is honest and good.

Integrity is doing what is right, even when no-one is looking.

Resilience - Phillipians 4:8

Fill your minds with those things that are good and that deserve praise, things that are true, noble, right, lovely and honourable.

Resilience is not giving up, even when things are difficult.
