Starting Reception in 2024?

Thank you for taking the time to look at our school. Selecting a school for your child is an important decision, and as parents, whichever school you choose you need to ensure their happiness. At St Mary's C of E School, we treat each child as an individual and provide appropriate support to meet their needs.

Reception 2024/25 intake

We will be holding Open Mornings on the 9th and 13th of November for parents/carers of children starting in Reception in September 2024. 

There will be a sign up system for parents to register their interest in attending these Open Mornings, please note there will be a limit of 20 families per session.

The Open Day dates and timings are listed below:

• Thursday 9th November 10-10:30am
• Thursday 9th November 11-11:30am
• Monday 13th November 10-10:30am
• Monday 13th November 11-11:30am

If your child has any additional needs, please get in contact with the school to find out how St Mary's can support your child and their needs. 

All applicants must be made via the Local Education Authority starting primary school application form. You can start to apply for a child's primary school place between 1 November 2023 and 15 January 2024.

National primary offer day will be on Tuesday 16th April 2024.

This is for children starting primary school or moving up to junior school in September 2024.

If you've applied online, you will receive an email from Buckinghamshire Council.

If you've made a paper application and provided Buckinghamshire Council with an email address, you will receive an email.

The normal point of admission is into Reception Class; children normally enter the Reception Class in September of the school year in which they turn five. Our admission number for children into Reception Class is currently 60.

The Reception Classes are housed in their own building on the main school site. The children in Reception have their own outdoor area which includes a bicycle track, mud kitchen, a woodwork bench, water areas, a construction area and an outdoor reading and writing station.  The children also have access to the main school where they can visit the library and have PE lessons in the Hall. The children are also able to access the school field for sports and the Forest School site.
