Lesson objective: to learn a melody and ostinato and perform it.
Over the last couple of lessons, you have learnt about rhythm and melody in Indian classical music. Today, we are travelling to a different part of the world – The Caribbean – to learn a song from their Junkanoo festival. You will complete a vocal warmup and then learn the melody of the song. After, you will learn the bass ostinato (the repeated section that continues throughout the piece) along with a rhythmic ostinato, which you will play using body percussion. Finally, you will get a chance to sing within a round and perform the piece. Watch the lesson video and complete the activities when asked to.
