Black History Month
Black History Month 2022
This year we learnt about the Benin Kingdom in Nigeria and had a go at making masks in the style of their famous sculptures and masks.
We learnt about Mary Seacole, who was a mixed race nurse from Jamaica and used her medicine to help soldiers in the Crimea war. We had Kwame visit to teach EYFS some djembe drumming, and had a go at copying prints from adinkra cloth from Ghana. We also learnt about John Blanke, who was a well respected black trumpeter for King Henry VIII.
Black History Month
During Black History Month we learned about Mary Secole, Martin Luther King and tried food from Jamaica.
We had an African Drumming workshop and learned how to play African Drums.
