English - Persuasive Writing

Lesson 5 - To plan a persuasive letter

You will need the notes you made in lesson 4. You will also need a copy of the planning frame or a piece of paper to write your plan on.

There is also a word bank in today’s resources. You do not need to print this but it would be helpful if you can look at this.

Watch the lesson and follow the instructions. Pause the video if you need to and complete the planning task at the end of the lesson.

Please submit your plan to your teacher

Spelling

Over the next two weeks, your spellings will focus on common homophones.  Please keep the work that you are doing together as the two weeks culminates in a test.

Watch the video and complete the activities within.  At the end of the video, try to complete a look, cover, say, write, check activity with the words for the week.

Music

To understand how rhythmic cycles feature in Indian classical music

Think carefully about the video you watched a couple of weeks ago and what you learnt about Hindustani Indian music – the use of Tala (rhythm) and Raga (melody or colour).  Today, you are going to understand a bit more about Tala, including a typical instrument used and what the patterns could look like.  You will have many opportunities throughout the lesson to join in and have a go at composing your own Tala cycle – so get yourself somewhere where you can clap and sing without disturbing others!

TA Group - Reading Comprehension, Spelling and Grammar

The following resources are for those children who have been asked by their teacher to complete a separate lesson for Monday's English lesson, Monday's Grammar lesson and the week's Spelling lessons.  If you have not received a phone call asking you to use these lessons, then please complete the lessons above for Year 5.

Please complete Reading Eggs lesson 1.7 on –ea exceptions, which will release to you today.  You will need to click into Reading Eggspress.
